Your Grace, my name is Miss Sharma, but please call me Kate. Eloise informed me of your arrival and I believe she has explained to you who I am, but I thought I would still introduce myself.

How are you settling in? Please let me know if there's anything I can do to make you feel more comfortable here. I know this city can be daunting, but you are not alone. You can always rely on me for company and tea.

Eloise has done so much for me already, and I am glad to know that she told you.

I do not wish to be any hindrance to you, Kate, but I cannot in good faith lie to you. This place is alarming, and it is foreign to me. I am not sure of how I can even settle in.

Perhaps I could ask you to join me for tea at your earliest convenience? I know you must know how much I love my sister, but I do not believe her path here is one that I may draw a great deal of similarity from. Even though I know she would do anything she could for me.

To be frank, I don't feel as though I have a friend here outside of my sister, and that is a daunting reality with every day.

I am ready for tea whenever you are. Though I must confess, I am rather fussy about the quality. The Neptune Lounge serves the best tea in the city, in my opinion. That is where I work. I have some influence over the tea that is purchased since I help manage the establishment.

You and your sister may be from the same household but you are very different women. I do not think it would be in your best interest to follow the same path as her. You must find your own. It will take time and considerable patience.

I never really had friends back home. I was so focused on my family. My time here has taught me friendships are incredibly important. It makes being here much more bearable.

It is forward to say and expect, but I have a feeling that your sensibility may very well be a balm much needed among the absurdity of what I've been told to expect here.

No. If you were not already aware, the man is a pirate, which should explain his roguish behaviour. I would advise you to be careful with him but I think you are discerning enough to handle him.

[ That and Jack knows Kate would kill him if he hurt Daphne's feelings. ]

He has a good heart, but he often chooses to think with a certain appendage.

I will reserve a private corner just for us, at your convenience.

I became aware of that quickly, yes. He has been direct but not untoward or unkind to me. He does seem to feel a particular attachment to my family, too.

[ Granted it'd been Daphne who kept bringing up Eloise as a means of jabbing at Jack at first, but their conversation fluidly dwelt on Anthony too. Daphne, talking about her siblings as a way to deflect like a champion. ]

If everyone from home seems to call him some variety of friend, then perhaps I may as well.
